Back to School Afternoon

Thank you to all of those who were able to join us for our ‘Back to School’ parent’s afternoon. We had a fantastic afternoon creating a suitcase for Paddington Bear and getting to know some of our amazing Amberley families.

Reading

Reading Corner

Class Reader: Squirrel and Duck: Mission Improbable.

We are looking forward to some of the author visits/ events that we have coming up this year. Parents will be notified of any upcoming dates.

We also love a trip to our local library. We enjoy discussing different genres of books, listening to a book and then choosing our own to take back to school. We also found lots of great books about our current topic!

Art

We will be creating sculptures inspired by the artist Alberto Giacometti. We will also look at a local artist from Newcastle, Sean Henry.

History

Our current History topic is ‘Romans’.

Our enquiry question is: What was the Roman Empire and what was its impact on Britain?

Maths

We have already delved deep into our maths learning this year! Our first topic is place value, and we have been working hard to cross hundred boundaries by adding two digit numbers.

In Autumn term, we have been learning all about 3-digit numbers. We have thought about the importance of place value, partitioning numbers, adding hundreds, tens and ones to 3-digit numbers and working on plotting numbers on a number line up to 1000.

In Spring 1, we are learning column addition and column subtraction.

In Spring 2, we are focusing on times tables. Please remember to use Times Table Rockstars and Numbots!
